The Monument

The Monument is a large double pentagon with five black granite panels. The first panel has Chapter 3, Verses 1-8 from Ecclesiastes.

The remaining panels list the names of those Killed in Action (KIA), Missing In Action (MIA) and Prisoners of Wars (POW) from St. Landry Parish in the following wars: World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Iraq War.

The smaller pentagon sits on top of the larger pentagon with the seals of each branch of service while the flags located at each corner fly high.

The Purple Heart Medal is displayed for honor and respect for combat death or wounded.

The panels have quotes of inspiration from leaders of the United States of America.
